Having Halloween themes for your party can make it more fun and easier to plan. When you have a theme, you narrow down what you have to look for when planning and preparing for your party.
Pirate Skull and Crossbones
For decorations, you should be able to find fake hooks, swords, parrots, and hats at any party supply store. You can also get creative by making your own pirate flag. Get a piece of black cloth for the flag and cut out a skull and crossbones from white felt fabric. Glue the felt to the black cloth with fabric glue.
Look for recipes that have a skull and crossbones theme too. You can make bone breadsticks just by tying the ends of a breadstick before you bake it.
You can have your guests search for a pirate treasure with a scavenger hunt that leads them to different clues or adds a piece to a treasure map. Have a box of candy for the pirate treasure.
Witch's Cauldron
Witches have long been a part of Halloween. Witch hats, brooms, cauldrons, and wands should be easy to find for decorations. Get a large cauldron and have something “cooking” in it when guests arrive along with some gruesome ingredients nearby. With some flour, water and food coloring, you should be able to make a cloudy looking brew. Add a few plastic spiders on top for a fun effect.
There are many Halloween treat recipes that resemble witches. Try a soup for dinner served in a cauldron. For witch ice cream dessert, put scoop of ice cream on a plate, add a face with candy or decorating gel, and a chocolate ice cream cone on top for the hat.
For a game for this Halloween theme, have your guests guess what you put into the cauldron you are using for the decoration. Let them know the number of items you put in and hide the items around the party area so your guests will have to search for them.
Zombie Limbs
Zombies can be a fun theme but be sure it is not too scary if you are doing this theme for smaller children. Zombie signs, limbs, and props can be found at party stores during the Halloween season. You can create your own zombie limbs with styrofoam, red and grey paint. Cut the styrofoam to resemble a limb. Paint it with red and grey paint.
Spaghetti can be a fun main course with the spaghetti pieces being the brains and adding the sauce as the face. A gelatin brain can make a fun centerpiece for the table and can double as dessert.
Hide zombie parts (you can just use pieces of paper cut out to look like zombie parts) around the party area and have your guests look for them. The one who finds the most wins a prize.
Halloween themes are a fun way to add something special to your party. Try to make sure that everything is in keeping with the theme, even the invitations and favor bags. You can get creative with your party and make rather than buy the decorations. It will add a special unique touch.
